Installing windows using a CD, or even worse using the 5 floppy disks plus the CD to install is very laborious and slow.
A handy tip I came across is to use a win 98 boot floppy disk (this one only uses one floppy drive and does not take 10 minutes to load.
Once you are at the command promp, create a i386 folder on the hard disk(usually c: or the drive you want to install to.
copy the content of the windows 2000 CD to the i386 folder
go into the i386 folder
run winnt.exe using a command switch, like below
winnt.exe /s [location of the files]
I found this made setting up windows 2000 this way to be considerably quicker and less likely to produce errors.
